The digital revolution has brought the world closer than ever. People are not tied to a place anymore. And because of that, the importance of having a place where you really belong, not just a physical place, but somewhere you feel at home has never been greater.
Our company was founded in Vietnam in August 2016. In rapidly developing Vietnam, the atmosphere was overflowing with energy, and we felt deep respect for the hunger of the young people who worked diligently day after day. By chance, we met a Vietnamese, Japanese-language school principal who had experience studying in Japan. They shared their thoughts with us, saying, “The reason I teach Japanese to Vietnamese people is that I want them to be respected by the world, just like Japanese people are. To achieve this, I want them to learn the Japanese way of thinking, the spirit of altruism, through Japanese language education.” At the same time, they mentioned that “it is difficult to judge the quality of study abroad programs or employers, which serve as the destination after learning Japanese.” We also confronted the reality that students seeking employment in Japan were paying substantial fees to local placement agencies. We started our business wanting to help motivated, capable people study and work more freely and without unnecessary burdens, and through that, contribute to the development of Japan's industries and communities.
The world is full of people with extraordinary passion, and we have worked to build places where that passion can be put to use. But those places need to stay genuinely attractive, or the potential of the people there goes to waste. Working internationally, we often meet the families of the people we support. It is a powerful reminder of what is at stake. At One Terrace, we are always thinking about what we need to do to contribute to a better society — not just connecting people, but working together with the companies and individuals we meet to create next-generation innovation and continuously raising the quality of what we offer.
